I think the discussion about lack of goals is not too relevant. It is more about to see a good hockey. Many chances, high tempo, good actions, combinations, etc. I can see a great 1-1 game and on the other hand a terrible 6-5 game. We shouldn´t try seeking a way how to enlarge the number of goals scored, but how to improove the game itself. The main thing is a cooperation between the IIHF and the NHL. I ce hockey is not american football, it is world wide spread sport, and we should deal with it. Are soccer, tennis or basketball rules different in Europe and other continents? No! I am for to make a stable ice rink size - 28x58 by which would have to dispone all the rinks, even the NHL rinks, and creating of the official international rules, the identic rules for the NHL, and none exceptions.

>>As a conclusion one could say, a bit boldly perhaps, that when Canada got competition on different levels (different style and attitude from the Soviet Union and Europe, different ways of doing business from USA) it has not been able to respond. What is going to happen to Canadian ice hockey in the future? The home of ice hockey? If it was the home?
LOL! Just a little bit too boldly.
I assume his book has been updated with consideration made to the last 2 years?
The fact that there is such hand-wringing over the selection of our World Cup team just goes to show that we still maintain the talent in all positions to make it difficult to pick 18-23 players.
That's a good sign for the future.

Hey SuperJ. I'm sure it won't be a problem for you to use the information above - just private message DanCan. Just keep in mind it might be a few days before you get a response. btw, welcome to the board! p.s. Just a note, when you string 3 "?"s in a row, you get the angry smiley " "

Excuse me Dancan, what on earth are you talking about when you say Canada has not been able to respond to challenges from the other hockey playing countries in the world.I have to assume you must be both deaf and blind not to have noticed the results Canada continues to get in international hockey. We are world champions two years in a row and are defending gold medalists in the olympics!!I could go on but you get the picture, why you did'nt get it before me telling you is beyond me.Oh,by the way, there is also no doubt ice hockey was invented in Canada.you've spouted off some fighting words to me with your comments big guy, watch your step, when Denmark gets their stuff together and can compete on the same level as Canada then make comments like you made, that pissed me off

Keep in mind that Dan Can didn't write the article, it was Swedish hockey history "expert", Leif Boork, whose arguments may or may not be altered somewhat given the recent success of Team Canada Your beef is with Leif Boork, so go get 'im tiger!!

Hey Robinson... Before you go spouting off, you should have noticed 3 things about the above posts: - The Article above is not DanCan's. Reading the first couple of sentences you should have seen that:
Obviously, we need a thread on the history of hockey. That old faithful issue that create such strong emotions year after year on IHWC.net....I now invite Swedish hockey history expert, Leif Boork who has written this piece to an educational IIHF seminar.
- 2nd, DanCan himself said that he did not agree with the article's conclusion:
DanCan's post-script: Well, you may not agree with the article's final verdict of Canadian hockey. I don't.
- 3rdly, the date of the posts was Feb 5th, long before Canada defended it's title
We are trying here to keep things dignified and classy here. No need for personal insults. If you disagree, keep it simple, for example: As you already guessed the conclusion I'd disagree with. Canada has become one of the most adaptable nations. A hard lesson but learned well!

Fine,my argument is with leif Boork or whoever the clown really is and i apoligize to DanCan for it.But as far as spouting off,i'll reserve the right to spout off to whomever i please if the situation warrants. It's nice to keep things "classy" as you put it but i think that only goes so far,at least it does to me,sometimes it gets too politically correct and it can make some people sick, like me for instance. But yeah,i should'nt have got on him for it.Leif boork,i want a piece of you you big no- nothing liar!!

Does anyone have links to boxscores of games in Nagano'98 and St Lake City'02? I'm looking for full game data, including game rosters...

Hey, if you can accept team rosters instead of game rosters, I can help you out: Nagano '98[/b] Link: Slam! Sports, Nagano 98Click on 'result bar' for box scores. You get the rosters by clicking on the 'roster bar' SLC 2002[/b] Link: Slam! Sports, SLC 2002Click on 'live scores' for box scores. You get photo gallary and game reports as well. Hope that will satisfy you for now.
