Looks like Team USA is a very veteran team.... Too bad several of the guys who helped win the bronze in Prague did not get an opportunity to play on this team

There was a suggestion that Scott Gomez was left off the team for bailing out on Team USA at the last minute before the Prague tournament.
Man... ignoring the goalies - there's only a handful of players under 30 y.o.!

veteran, well.....on the other hand, pretty experienced team. And experience is important in such a competition, mainly in the critical situations. What I really wonder about are the goalies. They are quite young, and usually goalies are the oldest in a team. Nevertheless, I think that the team from Prague was better than this one. Too brave to say? Well, maybe not by quality and experience, but by the passion. All-star teams are not usually the best options. And there will be a big pressure on this team. But as I said, they are very experienced, they should proove that they can deal with it.

I'm a bit surprised that Richard Park was left off of the team.

I don`t think there will be lack of passion in this team. I am sure Roenick will lead that team play with heart. Only consern in my opinion is lack of speed by some veterans.

Leaving Park off was a bad idea. He was the MAN at IHWC. I think they make a mistake there. I hope they have not replaced him with someone who turned down IHWC. That would be wrong.

Esche has been shaky on the long shots during the playoffs and was horrible last game. I wouldn't feel real confident with him in net.

I think Dipietro will be the starter. Despite going out in 5 games against Tampa he played very well. 2.18 GAA and .908 SV%.
Esche has not been as strong as the playoffs have gotten longer. I wonder if he is starting to get tired. He never played that much hockey before.
Although if you take Conklin's games in the WC as playoff games -- the higher profile ones -- he also has to be a candidate. Stroing performances against Russia, Slovakia 2x, and Czech Republic.

Hate to say it, as he is a great player, but maybe if you bail out at the last minute without a good reason, you deserve to be left off. If he had a good reason, then I can understand. At the time, he said "personal reasons", which can the gamut from legit to lame. So I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, I suppose. But I guess I just like to see the guys who were willing to go to IHWC get rewarded for their loyalty.

I saw the same thing about Gomez. You have to wonder.
I would have liked to see Richard Park get on the squad. He seems to excel in international play. And why no York or John-Michael Liles? I also thought Dimitriakos would get a hard look (actually I thought he would be on squad) and maybe Legwand?

Like I said, they are foolish not to include Park on the roster. He's a gamer.
