On the central square of Kuopio there is a statue called "Veljmies". One day, I'll get a statue too, it's set in Hämeenlinna, in front of the Rinkelinmäki Arena and it will be called "Peljmies".

I coud'nt believe Niinimaa was'nt named from the start anyway.I think he's one of Finland's best defensemen and was puzzled he was'nt included when they first named their roster. An error has been rectified to me.

I heard that Swedish d-man Josef Boumedienne is going to get Finnish citizenship. There was speculation about him replacing Karalahti.

He has played 47 games in NHL. He's currently property of Washington Capitals. He played in Tappara 1999-2000.
I think his mother is Finnish (but I'm not sure) and he speaks perfectly Finnish.

Boumedienne's mother is a Finn and father Algerian. He's possessing a Swedish citizenship at the moment. The reason why he wants to become a Finn is that for reason or another, he isn't considered good enough to play in the Swedish national team. (He has two A-class games in the Tre Kronor jersey - some EHT games.)
About his citizenship, it's still in works, nobody's pushing the process. I dunno if the NHLPA officials had let him play as a Finn in the WCup (after all, they allowed a Lithuanian in the Russian team), but it's a sure bet he ain't playing in any IIHF-assigned tournament before all the paperwork's been done.
If the Caps keep playing on their level, there is a good chance we might see him on blue and whites in 2006... (considering the bureacracy around here).
And just as a side note, to me it was clear from the beginning (before even any unofficial announcements were slipped out) that Niinimaa is going to replace Karalahti.
