Esa Tikkanen will play with Halla Winia, South Korea.
Could someone in Finland tell me more about this second career ? Will he coach ? What was he doing last year ? Why did he decide to go there ? How was the move commented in Finland ?
Thanks.

Tikkanen will coach Halla Winia but if needed he might play as well. He has been taking some time off from hockey and is now serious about his career as a coach. I read that there were some Finns making this deal happen and Tikkanen didn't just call to South Korea to ask this job. Finnish press didn't make it a big sensation. They just told the facts.
One thing that's worrying me is what language they will use. Will he teach Tiki-talk to his whole team or what?

I've never seen him shut up. He can't speak Finnish, Swedish or English, but where-ever he goes he makes himself clear and is popular everywhere. Esa is king, everywhere." - Jere Lehtinen, Dallas Star

Ah yes, "Tikkanese"[/color]... I wonder if anyone here has an audio-clip of him talking in any sort of interview or anything....

Just read a piece of news that it´s not done deal for Tikkanen yet. The team would want him to come over as a player and Tikkanen is only interested in coaching. He said there´s no way he would play any longer.

Kind of interseting. I know Halla Winia plays in a league with Japan based teams (they may play a domestic schedule as well.). That league is also adding teams from China and Russia this year.
