ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Phoenix Coyotes goalie Brian Boucher broke the record for the longest shutout streak in modern NHL history, extending his string to more than five hours Friday night. www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?id=67425This is amazing news. Breaking the modern day record which was +50 years old.... Enjoy it. Might never happen again during our lifetime.

On 7 january, I was in the MCI Center and witnessed Boucher shut out Washington Capitals - he didn't face tons of shots that night and he didn't have to make any awesome saves - but his overall streak is of course remarkable.
Btw, Boucher's new shutout record overshadowed another historic record that was broken the previous night (Jan 8): Nathan Horton became the youngest player to score on a penalty shot (in Panthers 4-3 victory over Philadelphia). The previous record was set nearly 50 years ago in 1944 by Toronto's Jack Hamilton.
