Hmmm... I miss travelling. I think some of us have done some travelling before. What are your top five memorable places you've visited? Why?
Hong Kong It was my first overseas trip and this extremely crowded place full of Chinese culture was a great experience. Grand Canyon, USA I can't get enough of mother nature's wonderful creation in northern Arizona. Paris, France I had long dreamed to be at the top of the Eiffel Tower and very happy to do it. Cairo, Egypt It was a honour to visit the Great Pyramids of Giza. Queenstown, New Zealand Got to do my first-ever and last-ever bungee jump. A great way to test one's "intestinal fortitude".

I haven't travelled a whole bunch to date, mostly around Canada and the western US. Really enjoyed Mt. Shasta National Park in the US. Grande Canyon was incredible. There is a water fall on the Great Divide outside of Banff that was really impressive also, but I can't remember the name of it. Worst place Tiajuna, Mexico

The best vacations spots I have been to? Well, I would have to say the number one spot is easy: 1) Prague, I came for a wee visit in 1990 and have been here, more or less, ever since. I don't know when this vacation stops being a vacation and becomes a way of life. Definitely the prettiest city in all of Europe that I have seen. 2) Thailand/Burma: I visited both these countries on the same trip and would hate to choose between them. They are as different as night and day, and I will be going back, often. The food, the smiles people in Buddhist cultures tend to hand out to friends and strangers alike, the beaches and so on. Parts of Burma take us back in time a hundred years or more. 3) Budapest. A mixture of the food, wine, thermal spas, women, gypsy culture (a few of my friends there are rom) and the relaxed atmosphere that I feel there. 4) Cuba. Can't recommend the food here, but with so muh rum, who needs food! I can recommend the music, the dancing (even if you can't salsa), the rum , the beaches and the old cars. 5) The rockies between Banff and Jasper, whenever I get back to visit the folks in Edmonton, I always try to get to Jasper for some hiking. Jasper is much less developed than Banff, and I like that. And the hiking, Peyto lake, Lake Louise and running from the wild animals is always like a balsam to my soul. And I could go on!

I would love to visit Banff/Jasper, and I agree with Wide Asleep that Prague is definitely one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. I have mainly travelled in NA and Europe. Favorite places in Europe: Cities: Paris, Rome and Prague (Spring and Autumn). Runners up: Lissabon and St. Petersburg. History: Rome/Pompei, Romantischer Straße in Bavaria, Vienna, Creta Culture: Many countries/regions are interesting. I am particular fond of Andalusia (Spain), Cote d'Azur (France), Sicily, and some of the Greek islands. Landscapes/hiking: Matterhorn (Switzerland), Romsdal (Norway) Skiing: St. Moritz in Switzerland. Favorite places in North America: Monument Valley, Yosemite, Sonoma Coast and Big Sur (California), South East Arizona (around Tucson), Mt. Rainier (Washington), parts of the deep South (especially, the Vicksburg/Natchez region in Mississippi, Savannah, Georgia). Favorite cities: New York, San Francisco, Washington D.C and Seattle. In Canada, I have only been to B.C. Loved it!

I've got a long list of personal favourite places.
I enjoyed many of Europe's fine cities. I love Prague for it's old architecture. I had great fun in Istanbul. I still need to visit Spain and Scandinavia one of these days.
I haven't been able to go overseas the last few years so I've focused on N.America lately. New York City and San Francisco are my favourite American cities. I'd like to do a Chicago to New Orleans trip in the future. Other trips I'd like to do is: Atlantic Canada & Yukon/Alaska.

I haven't been overseas in quite a few years and have never been to Asia, So. America, Australia, etc. Said another way, I've only done NA, the Carribbean and Western Europe. I've liked everywhere I've been. Every place has it's own beauty and interest. Having said that ...
Favorite cities ... Florence, Paris, Vienna, NY (to visit but not to live), DC, San Francisco, Seattle & Mexico City.
Favorite places ... Banff/Lake Louise/Jasper, Mexico's Yucatan peninsula, Arches & Canyonlands in US (Utah), the Grand Canyon, the Tetons ( Wyoming), the Croatian coast, Yellowstone, New York's Adirondacks and the tulip fields near Lisse, the Netherlands.

Wow! You guys have done a lot of travelling... I could easily make list of places where I'd want to go and many of those places I find reading your lists... I have only travelled in Finland, Sweden, Estonia, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, France and Luxemburg so not really far away... But I'll get there someday I'll get back to my list after some more thinking... Okay, one memorable place is our capital city Helsinki, for many reasons but mainly because I met my husband there the first time
