Czech team HC Oceláøi Tøinec maybe sign two NHLers from Poland Mariusz Czerkawski and Krzysztof Oliwa. General manager Petr Hušièka said that he is interested, of course provided that we will have lock out. On season 2003/04 HC Oceláøi Tøinec was 7 team in Czech Extraliga (14 teams play there).

If you have interesting information about plans of NHL players in Europe if we will have lock out, please post here.

I've heard similar things.
Players like Roberto Luongo & Brendan Morrison ( both Switzerland) amoung others are getting verbal agreements for playing there, but what is holding things up is that all of them want Out-clauses in case the NHL season starts up again in mid-season.

It's looking more and more likely that there will be a lockout. Contracts for NHL players who play some in Europe are going to be tricky -- assuming lockout gets solved and season commences.

the NHLPA is finally speaking to the press..the official line is that they are willing to make concessions have offered a roll back in wages, a luxury tax etc but that the owners want a hard cap..and thats a sticking point. the owners have a different take of course claiming the union is being simplistic and misleading. bottom line most players are making plans for an abreviated season . if a player under NHL contract goes to Europe to play he would have to be prepared to return once the season began, i'm assuming the teams in Europe dont' want to rent players but have a committment for a whole season. all and all its the usual rhetoric displayed in all negotiations. still hoping for a settlement.

SUNDIN WILL WAIT TO HEED DJURGARDEN CALL[/u][/color] By TERRY KOSHAN -- Toronto Sun AND CP source: slam.canoe.ca/Slam040612/nhl_tor-sun.html While some NHL players look to Europe for possible employment next season, Mats Sundin won't be among them -- at least not right away. It's probable that the Maple Leafs captain -- who will play for Sweden at the World Cup of Hockey in September -- will wait until January at the earliest before deciding whether to play at home in the event of an extended NHL labour stoppage. "With Mats' historical relationship with Djurgarden (of the Swedish Elite League), he could always decide to play there," Sundin's agent, J.P. Barry, said. "But a lot of guys who are over 30 and are playing in the World Cup would then take care of their bodies and see what happens later. I would put Mats and Daniel Alfredsson (of the Ottawa Senators, another Barry client) in that category." The reborn WHA could be an option for players, but observers feel it would be more attractive if it included out-clauses in its contracts. That way, players could return to the NHL if there was a part of a season in 2004-05. Meanwhile, rumours are swirling the Leafs will try to sign Brendan Shanahan if he does not re-sign with the Detroit Red Wings before July 1. Shanahan, a Mimico native, also could get interest from the Senators. NHLPA WRAPS IT UP With NHLPA annual meetings over, the solidarity among the 167 players who attended at the Royal York Hotel the past few days was clear. "I had a lot of guys say they were surprised at how much we offered Oct. 1 (in talks with the NHL)," NHLPA president and Vancouver Canucks forward Trevor Linden said. "They were surprised we offered a 5% rollback (in salaries) and changes to the entry-level (salaries) and a luxury tax. "Our system of luxury tax and revenue sharing would have dispersed close to $200 million US to lower-revenue teams and really would have made a huge difference." As it stands, there are no further meetings scheduled between the NHL and NHLPA. The players refuse to go anywhere near the NHL's proposal of a hard salary cap. Bill Daly, executive vice-president and chief legal officer of the NHL, said the NHLPA "has again mischaracterized the negotiation process and the proposals that were offered on both sides." BRIEFLY The Bergen (N.J.) Record reported that defenceman Scott Niedermayer, who won the Norris Trophy on Thursday, turned down a contract offer from the New Jersey Devils that would have paid close to $7 million US a season ... The Red Wings will not offer Brett Hull a new contract.

It seems like all Slovaks are coming back home. Most of them will play for one team - Dukla Trencin - so I just don´t want to see the results next season And as I know Patrik Elias will play for Znojmo and he´ll bring Scott Gomez with him.

Gaborik, Hossa, Demitra will play for Dukla-Trencin if there's a lockout/strike. They will have to buy their own insurance before they can play for Dukla-Trencin.

Just read this in the Edmonton Sun paper today
The uncertainty about an NHL labour agreement for 2004-05 made its first impact on the German Elite League (DEL) this week when small-market team Iserlohn Roosters announced the signing of Edmonton Oilers centre Mike York. The 26-year-old will join the Roosters in case of an NHL lockout. Although DEL teams are only allowed to bring in a limited number of import players each season, a few more prominent names may pop up as the late July start of DEL training camps approaches.
York was Edmonton's leading scorer with 42 points (16 goals, 26 assists) before a broken finger sidelined him.
He is expected to arrive in Iserlohn in early September and would stay until the end of a possible NHL lockout.
''Apart from Jaroslav Pouzar (also a former Edmonton Oiler), York would be the greatest player ever to wear an Iserlohn uniform. Even if he only sticks around for two or three months, our young team would profit a lot from York's skills and experience,'' said Roosters GM Wolfgang Bruck.

Lubomir Visnovsky as first slovak NHLer has signed a contract with slovak club. Of course with his former club Slovan. Radoslav Suchy has promised he will play for Poprad. Step by step they all will come back home. I´m really looking forward to next season.
