Well, it was pretty fun. Despite the rainy morning that messed up pre-draft outdoor festivities, we had a pretty good turnout ... over 14,000. Not bad for a "non hockey town." And we traded up from 8th to 4th pick so were able to get a desperately needed LW who shoots left. The Canes are happy.
I lasted thro 3/4 of round 1 and then left as, frankly, it was getting a little bit boring and I needed to go to work for a few hours. I may swing by tomorrow for a few more rounds.
Pretty interesting to watch some of the dynamics. I can't believe NYR had 8 or 9 picks in the first three rounds! And not surprisingly, they picked goalie Al Montoya.
Some interesting stats too .. Finland had 3 picked in the first round but Sweden had none in the 1st (but several in the 2nd and 3rd). Poland had a 1st round pick, Latvia and Belarus each had a 2nd round pick. Germany had a couple, etc.
Can't wait to analyze this data!

Cool! I've never been to one but I can imagine that it could get a bit boring for the general public after a little while. Maybe they should serve more beer or invite cheerleaders to liven up the show!
