Just for interests sake, next season the Russians will be making a change to their 3-foreigners rule. From next season on this will expand to include former Soviet countries like the Ukraine, Belorussia, etc. This will be bad news for the Czechs and Canadians playing there now who might get edged out.
One thing I learned about the similar rule here: once a player is here for three seasons they are no longer consdered to be a foreigner...

Hmm....this rule is not new and it's now the 4th or 3rd season, when clubs play like that.

Did the rule apply to Belorus, Ukraine etc. players as well? My source mentioned that the rule exists but until now only applied to all countries that were not part of the former Soviet Union (which means the Czech Republic, Canada, USA, Finland, etc). Now it will apply to all countries (except Russia of course).

Ah well, it was only the first leg. I will cross my fingers for AK Bars, Mrs. Sykora. Who would you say has been the MVP on your team this season? Btw, thanks for providing the link. Since AK Bars lost, I'm not going too watch this one though.

DanCan, it's hard to say about MVP. I would say Epanchincev, Drozdetski or Tsarev.

Thanks, so Tsarev should be pretty sure to make it to the Russian WC roster again? I noticed that his GAA has been excellent in recent years. Do you have a figure on his GAA in this season? Also, what other players from AK Bars do you think will play for Russia in the World championships? Zinoviev played in the Swedish hockey games, but perhaps his spot will be taken by Vadim Epanchintsev or Aleksandr Drozdetsky? Finally a question on Dmitri Bykov. How has he played since returning from the NHL?

Tikhonov called Tsarev (goalie), defencemen - Turkivskij and Bykov, forwards - Korolev and Zinoviev to participate for Russia. I think our goalies at WC will be : Sokolov, Podomatski and Tsarev.

Tikhonov is a living hockey ikon. It's impossible to find another active coach who have made a greater imprint on hockey than Tikhonov. He played in the Soviet league when it got started in the late 1940's, he played for Soviet Union when it entered the international scene in the 1950's, he coached Team Soviet Union during the legendary olympics of 1980 (as well as 84, 88, 92), Canada Cups (e.g. '81) plus the numereous times that USSR won WC gold and he coached CSKA Moscow in an era (the 1980s) where it arguably was one of the world's - if not the best - teams. I surely look forward to see him stay at the Russian bench yet another time. Btw, soon I will write his bio and insert it in the the hockey legends thread.

The latest results: Metallurg - Ak Bars 3:1 Lada - Avangard 0:6 (!!!) that's a real surprise, coz Lada is a defence machine.

HEy Mrs. Sykora, I have a question for you. Who is according to you better goalie? Salfický or Trvaj? Who´s having better numbers this year? I am thinking of the roster of CR for the WCH and the coach will probably take one goalie from Russia. Ihave almost no information about our goalies playing in Russia, so I can´t judge who´d be better for the WCH nomination. I heard that Trvaj made a record without allowed goal. But Salfický is good too. I´d have to see them. Thank you for reply I´d nominate for our team Èechmánek, Málek and maybe Salfický.

budvar, yes, it's a true information about Trvaj. He has about 11 shutouts, but maybe mostly becuase of Lada`s good defence. I think Salficki and Trvaj are equal.
