I don't think this topic will be as politically charged as the last one ... but I'm truly interested.
Do your respective cities/countries have recyling programs? And if so, what are they like?
I'm talking recyling of used products, most obviously products like newspapers, bottles, etc.
In most of the US cities in which I've lived, there have been recycling programs. Here in Raleigh, we have curbside recycling ... meaning the city picks up certain recylable products twice a month from the curb in front of your house. These products are:
Newspapers
Plastic bottles
Aluminum cans
Glass jars/bottles (clear and colored)
We also have numerous recycling drop off locations scattered around the city for the above items plus:
Cardboard boxes
Chipboard (like cereal and other food product boxes, the little paper tubes inside paper towels and toilet paper, etc.)
White paper (envelopes, letters, etc.)
Then once a year, usually right after Xmas, there's a big drop off to a recycling center for computers and styrofoam.
Also, all of our grocery stores have plastic and paper bag recycling drop off bins, although I prefer using string grocery bags, myself.
And many businesses collect and recycle white paper used at work.
We don't have any easy way to recycle cell phones and other electronics. You can mail your cell phone to certain charities (like for battered women) and they will be re-set, but I would like for someone to come up with an easy way for us to recyle electronics in general.
What about your cities? Formal recycling programs?
