Ugh, look at the shots on goal.
They say Liut was never the same after this game...

I remember that series well. It was a serious downtime for Canadian hockey really: Canada/NA had gotten trounced in the '79 Challenge Cup, and the States had just won the Olympics.
In '81, Gilbert Perrault was by far the best player in the tourney. I remember a quote from the Russians scouting Team Canada before the tourney saying, "how can someone with such a bow-legged stride, move like that?".
Unfortunately, Perrault busted his leg before the final game, and the wind went out of the sails for the entire team. He was carrying them. That, plus Liut sucked in the final!
Ah well, we got'er back in '84. A forgotten team really - best player in the '84 tourney was John Tonelli!!!

Does someone have the lineups of Sweden-Czechoslovakia game at Canada Cup 1976 ? I remember watching that game on TV as a kid! Maybe a Swedish hockey site's got it. Let me look. One good thing about IHG is we got tremendous capacity to get the info asked for when we pool our knowledge and language skills.

I feel like a geek for having this info, but I have a 76 Canada Cup book (it's in French). CSSR lost 2-1.
CSSR: M. Novy, V Matinec, J Bubla, J Augusta, M Stastny, I Hlinka, P Stastny, O Machac, J Holik, J Pouzar, F Posisil, B Stastny, M Chalupa, J Novak, B Ebermann, M Kajkl, M Dvorak, F Cernik, F Kaberle, V Dzurilla, J Holecek
Sweden: B Salming, A Hedberg, R Eriksson, T Lundstrom, L-E Eriksson, I Hammerstrom, B Johansson, LE Sjoberg, M Ahlberg, J Widing, U Nilsson, T Bergman, M Waltin, S Salming, D Labraaten, P-O Brasar, K-A Vikstrom, S Osling, W Lindstrom, L-E Esbjors, L-G Nilsson
Canada's team was phenomenal in that Tourney - best ever I think. Orr, Hull, Lafleur, Potvin, Robinson, etc.
Wow, some pretty stong teams for the others though eh!

Gurj, once you have done your job in the other thread. I will rewrite everything into html pages, and you can neatly copy the boxscores from the net. I can even mail them in pdf format to you if you like. Also, when you're done, I have a very pleasent surprise for you: a statistical package on Canada Cups and World Cup that you won't find anywhere, its even in Excel format for you to play and work with. So carry on, no need for Marc to duplicate the work, I will do.

Btw, on the homepage I will credit you for compiling the box scores. There will also be a credit to Marc and his site for providing the box scores of CP 76.

Of course, you also have the box scores of CP 76 in that book. I forgot. Anyway, I will swiftly make some nice pages on the Canada Cups and the World Cup with the box scores and additional statistics. So there's no use of adding the CP 76 box scores here. The box scores you write are for my use to make our webpage (We will eventually leave this board to be a backup board anyways).
