Well 67toronto67, it may be small by eastern Canada standards, but its still a nice place that turns out some excellent hockey players. Edmonton and Calgary both have pops of over a million now and continue to grow at an alarming rate. Red Deer is the little sister in between that is just getting going. I presume from your name that you are from Toronto, the center of the universe. As a western Canadian, we do not hold much respect for eastern Canada and alot, myself included, feel we should seperate and form our own country. As for the Leafs, don't like them, never have, I am an Edmonton Oiler fan, with Vancouver in second.

The count down has started with Sammy Jr's team taking on one of the dreaded Red Deer teams in about 5 hours.

Well, the kids did pretty good yesterday. They beat Red Deer 5-1 in the opening game of the tourney. Unfortunately they lost 3-2 against Daysland later in the day. At 1:30 today, we play Sherwood Park in the B side final. Sammy Jr's point total 1g, 2a vs Red Deer, and 1a vs Daysland.

All I know so far is that we play Delburne in the first game of the tourney. Our second game goes at 1:30 Saturday afternoon with a third game on Sunday. Who we play on Sunday depends on how we do on Saturday. I don't know which teams are there, but would not be too surprised to see a team or two out of Red Deer. I should get all the specifics at the practice tonight.

I received our schedule last night for the upcoming tourney and see we've been bumped so that our first game isn't until 2:15 Saturday afternnon against Rosalind. We then play at 5:30 against Clive. Depending on how we do the first 2 games, we'll then find out who we play on Sunday. Clive sits on top of our league, so the kids could be in for a tough one there.

Gotta like it. Sammy Jr. on the outdoor rink at 5:30 tonight. He played until 7:30, came home, ate a second supper and went to bed. Temp here is -15 with a wind chill of -28. He does love his hockey.

The tournament games aren't included in regular league play, but are classed as exhibition games. The web site www.ncmha.com has all the standings for league play. Unfortunately we are in last place to date, but have really improved since our last league game (two weeks and 3 games ago.) We juggled our forward lines and it seemed to work for us over the weekend. The Daysland team that beat us 3-2 is in first place in their league (zone 6, we're in zone 7). The exhibition games this weekend should tell us a lot as we play Clive (2nd overall in our teir) and Rosalind (second overall in zone 6). Our next league game is on the 20th of December I believe and it is in Winfield (1st overall in our teir) then the following weekend in Forestburg. The line juggling we did really seemed to help our team. To start the year we put 2 stronger players with a weak winger on each line. This didn't work as the kids were always out numbered on the ice. We have since changed them around to our 6 top players on 2 lines, with our 3 weaker players on the third line. When the third line is on the ice, we play our top 2 defencemen with them. It seems to work as they aren't really a scoring threat, but they work hard in our end. Our other 2 forward lines can pretty much play against any team I've seen so far. Scores from the past weekend (We're the Warriors) The Warriors-5 Red Deer Homes-1 Camrose-7 Red Deer Industrial-5 Daysland-9 Red Deer Homes-0 Camrose-4 Sherwood Park-2 The Warriors-2 Daysland-3 Sherwood Park-8 Red Deer Industrial-6 Red Deer Industrial-8 Red Deer Homes-4 C Final The Warriors-2 Sherwood Park-1 B Final Daysland-9 Camrose-2 A Final.
