Hey, Body, just relax. I´ve never said he´s an unsuccessfull goalie. Cos he is just not a goalie, but mop Ok, my czech mate, no more jokes. I know his account of trophies and that he lead Red Wings to their last Cup and I know he made unbelievable saves etc., but his style is...comic and funny - I can´t say it in different way. May be we have variant sense of humour... I just can´t help myself , I must say to have a eight million dollars mop staying in the corner of dressing room last season wasn´t a superb deal for Red Wings...how it will be for the Senators?

Body-Czech: Pyr has a right to be jealous with all those great Slovak goalies out there!

Just for the record, I like the Senators and I like and admire Hasek, but I do not like this deal and think that Hasek should have stayed retired and not let his hubris get in the way of his posterity. If he goes out as a loser instead of a winner, it'll be his own darn fault (andlast year's season could be a sign of things to come). I hope I am wrong, of course, for both the Sens and Hasek.

It may be better than sticking a goalie into a forward's position. Why Hasek himself is a good example with his in-line hockey example! I guess there will be two Slavak goalies in the Czech league next year, Lasak in Pardubice and Murin I assume will stay in Zlin. But that is a topic for another part of the board....

Well, I wish Lalime well, and I'm sure he'll do fine, but having never won a clutch game, his days in Ottawa were numbered.
He may yet prove everyone young (he's still a relatively young goalie), but sometimes a team has to move on.
Now, Hasek is in the saddle. He's "in the best shape of his life", but he's also very old, and unlike Belfour, tends to move around alot to stop pucks, as opposed to letting them hit him. A shortened season would be the best option for him, so as to reduce the chance of injury.
Since Lalime was relatively young in goalie terms, it was unlikely that Emery or Prusek would get a shot at # 1 any time soon. With Hasek on the verge of retirement, it's obvious that management wants to give these guys a chance.
There's also Kelly Guard waiting in the wings as well.
Sometimes you have to move on in order to make room for your prospects, otherwise they'll never get playing time in the big leagues.
