Mystic River ... disappointing. Great cast, bad scripting and editing. Sean Penn continues to amaze me. My all time favorite Sean Penn movie is "Dead Man Walking". I really liked it.

Me thinks everybody is so desensitized as we've become so accustomed to violence on tv or on the silver screen.
Anyway, I saw "Saving Private Ryan" on the tube yesterday. Too bad I missed the first few minutes of the soldiers landing at the Normandy beaches.

I don't like to imagine what the wars of today are like. There was much attention in Germany for the D-Day this year. Unfortunately my grandfather died two weeks before the date at the age of 95. After I read many articles I still have many questions not being answered.
The film I'm watching right now doesn't fit very good -
Get over it

In America
Wonderful movie ... not at all what I had been expecting ... your typical "poor Irish family emigrates to America in the early 1900s, encounters tough times and discrimination but overcomes all" kind of movie.
Not that at all. Incredible cast. I hope to see more of these actors in the future.

Looks like MarmotMike and I have the same tv channels. Blazing Saddles followed by Saving Private Ryan last night.

All Canadians got the CBC! Not if you live on Vancouver Island, and don't have cable. To me, it's an outrage. I think it's my right as a Canadian to get the CBC without paying for it.

Yep. Of course, now I live in England, and don't get it anyway. I think when I move back to Canada, I'll have to start hassling the government/CBC, for at least two things: 1) Transmitter for Vancouver Island 2) Enough funding to be commercial-free (getting spoiled by the BBC ) Who's with me?
