I believe it originated from Japan so check out Japanese restaurants/stores. Green tea ice cream might be an "acquired taste" so try out a cone first before committing to buying a big tub of the stuff. If you make it out to Vancouver go to La Casa Gelato / International Ice Cream Inc. It's got hundreds of flavours and it's located east of downtown Vancouver. www.lacasagelato.com/111.htm

Hey, I've been there! It's right near the General Paint Head Office (I used to work for GP). I think I had some chocolate jalepeno ice cream, or something like that. I must have a thing for the spicy/sweet combo's.

Apparently La Casa Gelato supplies their fine ice creams to many other ice cream shops & restaurants all over Vancouver.... Speaking of sinful deserts... Here's another recipe. The Nanaimo Bar. It's a local specialty: tolweb.org/tree/drm/recipes/nanaimo.html

You should try this one: it's one of my favorites: Lutefisk[/b] Ingredients: 1 kg dried fish (cod) 100 g caustic soda 30 liters of water Feeds 10 people time needed: 2 weeks Saw the fish in suitably sized pieces or leave it whole. Put in water. Leave in water in a cool place for 5-6 days if cut in pieces, 8 days if the fish is whole. Change the water every day. Place the fish in the tub with the skin side up. Dissolve caustic soda in the water, pour over the fish until covered complete by lut water. Leave the fish in a cold place for 3-4 days. When the fish is completely luted, it will be well swollen (i.e. rotten) and you should be able to put a finger through it. Rinse the fish and leave in cold water 4-6 days. Change water every day. If the fish stays in water for too long after the luting, it may be soft and difficult to boil. Test boil a piece, if you are uncertain. ps: 1 kg dry fish makes about 5 kg lutefisk. If you're too hungry and can't wait then try Dutch Sushi[/b] -- eat a raw herring, plain and simple. Remember to drink plenty of beer.

DanCan,
Is lutefisk sold only in Denmark? I'm too lazy to prepare it by myself.

Sounds good Dancan, but I think I'll stay with my medium rare, t-bone steak, barbaqued, with baked potatoes, chives cooked with mushrooms in butter and a fresh garden salad.

Sammy, Lutefisk is a Norwegian speciality. You can't buy it in Denmark. I wonder why....

i love ginger ice cream..i know sounds a tad odd but its amazing..and its damn hard to find any time other than summer. Black licorice is a close second. i have rather unique tastebuds. Some might call it ill. A few weeks ago I tried Häagen Dazs lychee cream and ginger. Ok, I'm still alive but that was close. But I have one last bottle of czech absinth. That might help. Cookie dough? Sounds good to me. Robert
